Ron began
his career in 1978 as staff Director of Photography for a Sydney based
film production company shooting television commercials and documentaries.
Ron currently has over 25 years experience as a cameraman, producer
and editor.
Early
in 1987 Ron decided to pursue his career as a freelance cameraman,
producer and director and over the last 15 years has built and maintained
a strong client base. His work has taken him to many parts of the
world from the tropical jungles of Malaysia to the amazing beauty
of the African interior.
Rons
reputation and his can do attitude has seen him involved
in a number of long term and difficult projects. Ron has shot several
documentaries in the jungles of Malaysia and Indonesia, these jobs
have involved weeks of hardship for the crew who were living and
working under extreme conditions in the tropical jungle.
In
1997 Ron was asked to shoot three documentaries on an expedition
travelling the length of Africa. The expedition started out from
Cape Town and drove to Cairo in 33 days. Again Ron was selected
for his skill as a cameraman but more importantly for his ability
to gel into the team environment.
In
the year 2000 Ron was appointed senior cameraman for the Sydney
2000 Olympic Torch Relay and Paralympic Torch Relay, working for
the accredited production company and SOCOG to supply all the news
footage for the daily pool feed and the official Torch Relay Documentary.
Ron
has director and producer credits along with extensive editing experience
gained from editing many of his own project. Ron owns and operates
the latest Panasonic DVC-PRO 50 digital camera equipment as well
as Betacam SP cameras in both PAL and NTSC formats.
